This was behind the scenes of the dark, coloured lighting shots. We had a make up artist come in and paint Tay in a sort of alien make up to make her seem out of this world and extra-terrestrial. We knew we wanted this scene to be one of the most interesting and one of the weirdest. So we tried to make her look as appropriately weird as we could. This scene also included a variation of shots and a wide range of of editing styles that were done in post production.

Behind The Scenes 2
This was behind the scenes of the dark, coloured lighting shots. We had a make up artist come in and paint Tay in a sort of alien make up to make her seem out of this world and extra-terrestrial. We knew we wanted this scene to be one of the most interesting and one of the weirdest. So we tried to make her look as appropriately weird as we could. This scene also included a variation of shots and a wide range of of editing styles that were done in post production.
Behind The Scenes 1
This is the first video for the behind the scenes of the production of Overdrive - Irreverence. In this scene we were shooting the bedroom scene for the chorus. We tried many times to get a dynamic shot of the actress falling on to her bed. We first had her hold the camera on her face and have her fall with the camera to get the shot, that didn't really work as it was hard to get the correct angles on her face. It was also hard for the actress to focus on pointing the camera, acting to the camera and knowing when to fall.
We then tried to have Ben fall with the actress whilst holding the camera recording her. This way we could get the correct angles and the actress did not have to worry about keeping the camera at a distance and angling it herself. But as you can see from the video we quickly realised that there was no way for Ben to stop himself from falling with her.
In the end we had Eddie act as a stopping motion for Ben by holding on to him and pulling him back before he falls. This was successful and we got the shot we wanted.
Website: Tour Page
The tour page is again a way of making the website seem official and authentic. None of the links work and tickets are not available to buy, but it does give the impression that we are a real touring band and we play at several different locations. The colour scheme is again the same and the buttons glow red when hovered over.
Website: Music Page
The music page is a simple page that has a link to our music video where you can watch it straight on the website. We took this idea from Calvin Harris's website as we agreed that it allows for fans who may not know about us to easily see our most recent music video. There is also two links to the left hand side. One isn't currently showing up but it is a link to get the song on spotify, but ultimately we could not get the song on spotify so the link is for show. And secondly we have a link to iTunes. We wanted to do this to again increase the authenticity of the website and the band to make it appear as though we are a real band. The font and background is consistent throughout all pages.
Website: Album Page
We wanted to make our website really creative and authentic. We found a feature which lets us add an album on website which also acts as the store as you can buy and share the album. It also has a working music player with our song on there but we haven't included other song titles from the album. There is a picture of our band on the front for the deluxe edition album and all the information about the album is there.
Website: About Page
There is also a small paragraph describing the aim of the band, what its all about, and how it was formed.
Website: Home Page
Here we have our homepage. We utilised the same space background throughout the entire website as we wanted to stay consistent. From our research we found that a lot of house music artists use a similar colour scheme of black, white and red in their websites. So we chose to use those colours in ours. We have a white navigation bar on top which has our bands logo on the top left and social media links underneath. All social media links work and will take you to the corresponding social media website. Our navigation buttons are in the top right, each work efficiently and are clearly visible. Finally we wanted to have a very social, interactive feel to our website so we decided to use photos from our bands shoot on the homepage, similar to the Skrillex site researched, as it gives fans the opportunity to see what we get up to and have a behind the scenes feel, allowing fans to connect with us and stay up to date.
Website: Intro Page
For our homepage we wanted to create a sense of infinity and endlessness, so we decided to use space as our background as it works with the genre of our band which is electro/house. It is also representative of our band as believe our music to be innovative and out of this world. We wanted to have an intro page before the home page to make it a little more interactive for viewers, and a lot more visual, to show that a lot of effort has been put into this website. We also chose to have the name of our band front and centre so that everyone knows it is our website and we are promoting our name.

Editing - Split Screen
Slit screen was used to create a symmetrical effect in our video. We did this by creating one of the panels of the split screen then mirroring it on the other side of the video. After creating this effect the center felt lack luster so we decided to cut lip sync on the beat of the music video in a rotating fashion to give the impression of an ellipses of time while the events of the side panels occur.
We used colour grading on these videos to give them a more vibrant dream like feel as the natural footage was bland and gray in comparison contrasting the theme and style of the rest of our music video

Editing - 7 second beats
Our music video needed more 'WOW' factor so we used the fast pace 7 half second beats to attempt to increase the tempo of our video. These were created using the small sections of high energy footage we were able to find in our larger videos. we opted to use footage without lip sync as these sections of the song don't have any lyrics to sing. There were a total of 5 times in which this effect was used and each one is more intense than the last.
Editing - Titles
To make our titles suit, the hyperactive style of our music video, we decided to use a sans serif script font, however we felt this wasn't enough so I decided to use key frames to animate the titles for added affect. these frames make text, swipe, pan, and wipe in order to appear reappear and move in interesting ways. I also used key framing to make the text bounce of itself in time with the music. i used a black background and white text to match the titles used throughout as white and black being contrasting colours matches the borders used for the split screen effect.

Editing - Screen Cropping
the difficulty came with he actual post production as when we recorded this footage the two videos had slightly different lighting so the two videos looked different to fix this we needed to key frame colour correction on one of the videos to match the other.Tuesday, 12 April 2016
Final Music Video
Here is our final music video for the song Gecko(Overdrive) by Oliver Heldens. We decided to include an intro to the music video as did Oliver Heldens to the original. After extensive research we found that many house music videos have a brief 20 second or less introduction without music to set the scene, as many house music videos are very narrative. Which is what we accomplished in our music video.
This is a first render so may be re rendered to create a higher quality product as some issues may have become evident in the render footage as this tends to be lower quality when uploaded to video sharing services.

Behind The Scenes Day 3
We shot the scene that is supposed the communicate the idea of a nightmare in our work. We accomplished this though the juxtaposition of the green and red, as complimentary course they each make the other stand out. We wanted to use make-up to help create our star image , we used abstract make-up to give an other worldly image to our performer, something out of her comfort zone that would give the impression she was something resembling an alien but not changing her image entirely. Anisa helped us with make-up by using a paler foundation/ face paint to give the impression of pale skin, this was blended with pink and blue eye shadows to contour her cheeks making her feature stand out more so that they could come out more prominent in post. They're close ups on her eyes and lips so we used a galactic colour scheme on the parts of her face that would be seen close up.
Gel lighting was used to create the red and green i explained in this blog post

Meeting #8
We have been working on improving and fine tuning the lip sync for our chorus as the is the most important aspect of our music video being what truly communicates the idea that something isn't right within the narrative as we have attempted to create what we have names glitches in the vide (events in which editing is used to make the impression that something is broken in the reality we have created in the narrative) These glitches are the most heavily edited parts of our work and so are the most noticeable.
almost finished- Edit of Overdrive
Meeting #7
We created a rough cut of our chorus in which we attempted to make use of the seven beats that are repeated to create a high energy feel to our work. on the review from our audience we learned that we should try to edit everything in the video on beat as this will increase the tempo of our work and make it more energetic.
Location - Park, Dream Garden
We want to create one section of our music video that seems very dream like to contrast the nightmarish scene that is adjacent to this one.We took photos that we may use as blank slates to base the planning for our more difficult shots.During these shots our performer will enter and exit the shot from what seems to be impossible areas taking away from the reality of the scene and making it seem more dream like. We plan on having scenes in which it seems our our performer is being chased, we plan on using a long stretch of hedged area as well as a shaky chasing cam combined with quick edits this should give the impression of something gaining on them. We plan on doing the effect where our performer can be seen on screen twice by using the effect of doors as a "gateway" we are going to accomplish this by setting up our shots so that we have clear borders close to the doors to hide what we are actually doing. We also plan on using the foliage to mask the feathered line created by cropping our footage due to slight lighting changes that may occur when adjusting focus to the performer returning to frame.
One of our ideas for the ending of the video involves the band being passed out/ unconscious on a bench after the events of the music video end. We also have plans on a different ending that shows the main performer just waking up on her own and her friends missing to make the idea of a dream ambiguous.
We may want to have a long establishing/ running shot of the garden/ park environment in our music video so took location shots of the park to create this.
